A motorcycle accident in Kern County the night of July 12, 2010 resulted in the death of 22-year-old Steven Mason, the Taft Midway Driller reports. The fatal crash happened on Kern Street at Eighth Street when Mason, who was riding a Honda motorcycle, collided with a car that was turning left from Eighth to Kern Street. A motorcycle accident in Modesto proved fatal for 24-year-old Aaron Murdaugh the night of June 22, 2010. The Modesto Bee reports that Murdaugh was heading east on Briggsmore Avenue when he was struck by a Toyota sedan that was making a left turn from a shopping center. The driver of the Toyota is described as a 66-year-old man. He and his passenger were not injured. But Murdaugh sustained fatal injuries. An investigation is ongoing. Read full story »

A man who was killed in a motorcycle accident in Ontario the morning of June 13, 2010, has been identified by authorities as 45-year-old Enrique Jose Salas. The San Bernardino Sun reports that the deadly collision occurred at the intersection of Turner Avenue and Silver Saddle Street. A motorcycle accident on Highway 99 in Lodi caused major injuries to 50-year-old Rodney Tate. The Lodi News-Sentinel reports that the major injury crash occurred the afternoon of June 7, 2010, when Tate attempted to merge on to the highway from another roadway. His 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was struck by a 1991 Acura Integra driven by Maria Serreira, 31. She was driving without a valid driver's license, California Highway Patrol officials said. A motorcycle accident in El Cajon the night of May 23, 2010 proved fatal for 38-year-old Nathaniel Joseph Camacho. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that a Toyota Camry that was making a U-turn on Greenfield Drive hit Camacho's motorcycle. Camacho was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. A motorcycle accident in Long Beach proved fatal for 26-year-old Jose Bazen, 26, according to a news report in the Contra Costa Times. Long Beach police officials said Bazen was riding his 2000 Honda CVR 900 west on Market Street on May 20, 2010, when he tried to make a left turn on Walnut Avenue. He then collided with a 1994 Cadillac DeVille, whose driver officials say, failed to yield right-of-way to the motorcyclist. Read full story »

A 20-year-old man who was killed in a motorcycle accident in Bakersfield the afternoon of May 18, 2010 has been identified by authorities as Brock Kleeman. ABC News reports that Kleeman was riding a motorcycle west on Niles Street when a Ford Aerostar van turned directly into this path. The van's driver has been identified as 33-year-old Calvin Stepney. Kleeman then lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into the van. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died. Read full story »

A motorcycle accident in the downtown Santa Barbara area left a 55-year-old man with injuries the morning of May 11, 2010. KSBY News reports that the man was riding his motorcycle in the 3900 block of State Street when a vehicle that was exiting a shopping center broadsided him. A 43-year-old man sustained serious injuries in a San Diego motorcycle accident the evening of April 24, 2010, which officials say, was caused by a distracted driver. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the female driver who hit the motorcyclist was talking on the cell phone while driving south on Comstock Street close to Comly Street in Linda Vista. The 25-year-old driver then lost control of her SUV, crossed over to the opposite lanes and struck the motorcyclist. He was also run over and dragged by the SUV. The woman has been arrested on suspicion of reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and outstanding warrants. The motorcyclist apparently suffered severe leg injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Read full story »

A number of motorcycle accidents occur at intersections, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Most of these street intersection accidents occur when one of the vehicles is making a left turn. A similar accident in Victorville proved fatal for 39-year-old motorcyclist Mario Dudley, who was struck by a driver making a left turn at the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Cantina Drive. The Riverside Press Enterprise reports that Dudley died of his injuries on April 19, 2010, shortly after the collision. The driver of the pickup truck, Edward Munoz, made a sudden turn ahead of Dudley's motorcycle, officials say. Read full story »
