Los Angeles Car Accident Fatally Injures Two

One of two men who were killed in a Los Angeles car accident on December 30, 2009, in Lancaster, has been identified as Timothy Wallace, 21. According to a CBS news report, authorities found Wallace and another man deceased in a field near the 6600 block of East Avenue K in Lancaster. California Highway Patrol officials said that the men died as a result of a traffic accident. The men seemed to have been ejected from a 2008 Nissan that was discovered in a ditch close to where Wallace and the other man were found. The men may have been ejected as a result of a rollover accident, CHP officials said. However, it is not known at this point whether other vehicles were involved although, officials said there was some side damage to the Nissan.

My heart goes out to everybody who knew and loved these fatal car accident victims. These grieving families will certainly be in my prayers.

Car Accidents

There were 15 fatalities and 802 injuries involving car accidents in Lancaster, according to California Highway Patrol's 2007 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS). Countywide, 712 deaths and 56,475 injuries were reported as a result of car accidents during the same year.

What Caused this Fatal Car Accident?

There are too many unanswered questions as far as this case is concerned. The big question is whether another vehicle was involved here. If that was the case that driver could face hit-and-run charges for leaving the scene of a crash. If this accident was caused by an auto product defect, the auto maker or the manufacturer of the defective product could also be held liable. I'd also be interested to know whether the men were ejected as a result of seatbelt failure in the Nissan. If a vehicle defect is suspected, the family should preserve the Nissan in its current condition, unaltered so it can be carefully examined by an expert for any evidence of product defects or malfunctions.

If this was a hit-and-run car accident, the driver of the suspect vehicle could be held liable. An experienced Los Angeles personal injury lawyer should advise victims' families about how their own car insurance policy applies to a hit-and-run accident or an incident where the at-fault driver is uninsured or underinsured.
