An elderly pedestrian who was fatally injured in a car accident in San Diego has been identified as 82-year-old Patricia Dora Martin. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the accident occurred the afternoon of January 1, 2012 at the intersection of 30th Street and Howard Avenue in the North Park neighborhood. Martin was crossing the roadway when a Toyota SUV hit her. She sustained severe head trauma and died at a nearby hospital. An investigation is ongoing.

Police have arrested a 29-year-old woman in connection with a car accident in Garden Grove, which left 54-year-old Gregory Martin critically injured. The Orange County Register reports that the major injury collision occurred the evening of December 28, 2011 on West Street. Martin was crossing the roadway when a Dodge Magnum driven by Guadalupe Quinonez struck him. The driver did not stop and left the scene. Shortly afterward, Martin was struck again and dragged several hundred feet by a white Ford Explorer. This time, the driver stopped and called police. Martin sustained critical injuries. Quinonez, who abandoned her vehicle in Santa Ana, but later turned herself in to authorities and is facing felony hit-and-run charges.

Kenneth Newell, 68, was severely injured in a Humboldt County car accident when a teenage driver drove into a construction zone and struck him. According to a news report in The Times-Standard, the construction accident occurred on Myrtle Avenue near Pennsylvania and Moore avenues in Eureka, the morning of December 27, 2011. Officials say Eugene Palmer, 17, drove over traffic cones and into the construction zone before hitting the grinder Newell was operating. Newell sustained major injuries in the collision and still remains in critical condition. Palmer and his passenger, 17-year-old Richard Higgins were not injured in the crash. It is not clear if Palmer will be cited for the incident.

A car accident in San Bernardino proved fatal for a 60-year-old pedestrian identified as Karen Lee Henthorn. The San Bernardino County Sun reports that the fatal pedestrian accident happened when Henthorn was walking in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of East Lynwood Drive and North Mountain Avenue the evening of December 26, 2011. Henthorn was crossing the street when a 1994 Honda sedan struck her. She succumbed to her injuries after being taken to an area hospital. Officials are looking into the cause of this fatal crash.

A car accident in Santa Ana resulted in critical injuries for a 50-year-old bicyclist the evening of December 25, 2011. The Orange County Register reports that the bicycle accident happened in the 100 block of North Euclid Street. The bicyclist was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries. Officials said the victim had to undergo surgery. Police are still looking into where the bicyclist was at the time of the collision and who was at fault. An investigation is ongoing.

Linda Dingman, 52, of Yucca Valley, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the evening of December 21, 2011 near the intersection of Highway 247 and Encelia Drive, just southwest of Yucca Valley Airport. A Chevy Yukon, driven by 33-year-old Carla McChristian, struck Dingman. Officials say Dingman was wearing dark clothing. They are still investigating the cause of the crash.

A car accident in Chula Vista resulted in injuries for a motorcycle officer the morning of December 21, 2011. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the injury collision happened when the officer was riding his motorcycle south on Fourth Avenue. He was struck by a driver who made a left turn in front of the officer's motorcycle. The driver was turning into a private driveway mid-block, officials say. The officer was thrown off his cycle and on to the pavement. He was taken to an area medical center with injuries, but is expected to survive. An investigation is ongoing.

A car accident in Los Angeles, which involved a hit-and-run driver, resulted in the death of 22-year-old Anthony Medina the night of December 15, 2011. KABC reports that the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Olympic Boulevard in East Los Angeles when Medina was struck while crossing the road. The driver of the vehicle that hit him did not stop.

Officials are seeking the public's help to locate the hit-and-run vehicle and suspect. A video of the crash has been posted online to help identify the vehicle and suspect. The suspect vehicle has been described as a 2008 or 2010 model blue Subaru Impreza. An investigation into this hit-and-run car accident is ongoing.

A car accident in Anaheim involving a hit-and-run driver resulted in injuries for 21-year-old Monica Varillas the morning of December 19, 2011. The Orange County Register reports that the injury collision happened at the intersection of Euclid Street and Catherine lane, when a driver in a Chevy Cavalier made a left turn in front of the victim's Honda Civic. The vehicles collided and Varillas was injured. Her 1-year-old child was not harmed. The man who was driving the Cavalier abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot. Officials are looking for the hit-and-run driver who is at large.

A car accident in Los Angeles resulted in injuries for 10 people two of whom were injured critically. ABC News reports that the chain-reaction collision occurred at Crenshaw Boulevard and Vernon Avenue in Leimert Park the afternoon of December 18, 2011. Police say the collision happened when a silver Chevy Colorado rear-ended two other vehicles at the traffic light. Officials say the pickup truck was traveling at a high rate of speed just before it crashed into the vehicles that were slowing down for the light. An investigation is ongoing.
