A possible DUI collision resulted in the deaths of two men and two women, the Los Angeles Daily News report. The fatal car accident occurred the early morning of May 6, 2010 on Roscoe Boulevard near Hayvenhurst Avenue in Van Nuys when a female driver speeding and possibly under the influence of alcohol failed to negotiate an S-Curve and crashed the sports car. The driver was pinned in the vehicle while three others were ejected. Officials do not believe the three occupants were wearing seatbelts.
This is no doubt a tragic car accident. The description of the gruesome accident scene is heart-wrenching and is a sad reminder to all of us that speed and alcohol can be a deadly combination on the road. I offer my deepest condolences to the families of all the deceased victims.
DUI Collisions in Los Angeles
There were 105 deaths and 2,252 injuries involving alcohol related car car accidents in Los Angeles, according to California Highway Patrol's 2008 traffic accident statistics. Countywide, 258 people died and 4,832 were injured as a result of DUI collisions the same year.
Accident Investigation with Twists and Turns
This accident is also an example of how an accident investigation can change and evolve over the space of just a few hours. Initially, investigators believed pedestrians may have been involved, but now they have confirmed that all of those who died were occupants of the vehicle.
Laws and Liability Issues
Under California law, driving under the influence is a serious crime. According to California Vehicle Code Section 23152 (a): "It is unlawful for any person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage or drug, or under the combined influence of any alcoholic beverage and drug, to drive a vehicle."
In this particular case, the families of the deceased victims could seek compensation from the at-fault driver's estate or her liability insurance. This could of course be a lengthy legal process especially because of the number of victims and the complexity of the accident investigation.
In any fatal car accident case where negligence or wrongdoing is suspected, it would be in families' best interests to seek the counsel of an experienced Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, who will stay on top of the official investigation and keep them advised of their legal rights and options.
What suggestions do you have to deter motorists from speeding on city streets? How can speed laws be better enforced?

I am a family member of one of the dead. I think your assumption of alcohol is pathetic.
