Causes and Liability Issues
A number of things are not clear here. The news report does not state whether speed, alcohol, fatigue or distraction were factors in this crash. We also do not know whether there was a dangerous condition on the roadway or if other vehicles were involved. Also, there is the question of whether this accident was caused by an auto product defect or a mechanical malfunction in the Toyota Camry. These are all important questions to ask in any car accident that occurs under similar circumstances.
According to this report, Krum was partially ejected from the car. If I were a member of Krum's family, I would definitely want to find out if that happened because of seatbelt defects or seat restraint system failure. A reputed San Diego personal injury lawyer who is well-versed in auto products liability issues, specifically seatbelt defect cases, will be able to analyze this incident and advise victims' families about their legal rights and options. It would also be a good idea to preserve the vehicle, unaltered, so an expert can examine it thoroughly for auto product defects, malfunctions and other evidence.
