A man sustained fatal injuries in a Sacramento car accident the morning of February 4, 2010. The Sacramento Bee reports that the fatal car crash, which happened at the intersection of Folsom Boulevard and Florin Perkins Road, involved a Sacramento County garbage truck and a Dish Network satellite installation van. The collision resulted in the garbage truck slamming into a daycare center, but no one at the center was injured. The driver of the satellite television company's van died. The garbage truck driver was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
I offer my heartfelt sympathies to everyone who knew and loved this deceased victim. They will be in my prayers.
Accident Issues
In any accident that occurs on-the-job the injured parties or their families (if the worker is deceased) will be entitled to California workers compensation benefits. In this particular case, both the drivers were on-the-job. The question here is who caused the accident or who was at fault for the accident. Did one of the drivers fail to yield right-of-way at the intersection? Did one of them run a red light or make an unsafe turn? I trust investigators are in the process of determining what exactly caused this fatal collision.
Liability Issues
If the garbage truck driver was at fault, then the technician's family could file a wrongful death lawsuit against the county. If the installation technician had made an unsafe turn, then the truck driver could file a claim against the installation company because the technician was on-the-job at the time.
I would urge victims in such cases or their families to contact a reputed Sacramento personal injury lawyer, who will make sure that their legal rights are protected and their best interests, secured. The best California personal injury law firms will always offer a free and comprehensive consultation to injured victims and their families.
