Fatal Orange County Car Accident Involves Four Vehicles

A Huntington Beach resident, who was fatally injured in an Orange County car accident that occurred the afternoon of December 16, 2009, has been identified as Lucy Solares, 68, according to a news report in The Orange County Register. Solares, who uses a wheelchair, was being transported back to her home, from a physical therapy session, in a specially outfitted used van. The van was heading south on Euclid Street, in Fountain Valley, when the car accident happened.

Two vehicles were exiting the 405 Freeway and had turned left onto northbound Euclid Street, when they struck the van pushing it onto another vehicle. The van fell to its side. Solares was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Three others were injured and taken to local hospitals.

My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who knew and loved Lucy Solares, the fatally injured victim of this car accident. I offer my deepest condolences to her family and friends. I also sympathize with the three injured victims of this crash and wish them a speedy and complete recovery.

Car Accident Causes

In this case, it is not clear who exactly was responsible for the initial collision. It seems to me that the crash was the result of one driver failing to yield the right-of-way. I trust investigators are looking into who had the light at this street-off ramp intersection. There is a comment on the newspaper's website that suggests the driver of the van transporting the victim had run a red light. If that is found to be the case, the driver of that van and his employer may be held liable for the accident, the death and the injuries caused.

Investigating Accidents Involving Multiple Cars

Investigations of accidents that involve a number of vehicles are typically complex and long drawn. There are a number of parties connected with the incident, including drivers and other occupants of a vehicle, as well as their insurance companies and attorneys. Witnesses in such cases can also present differing accounts adding to the confusion. An injured victim of such an incident, who believes the accident and the resulting injuries were due to the negligence of another motorist, would be well-advised to promptly contact a skilled Orange County personal injury lawyer. A knowledgeable car accident lawyer will quickly gather crucial evidence and help determine whether there was any negligence or wrongdoing involved. In this case, the Solares family would definitely benefit by consulting an attorney who will evaluate their case and better explain their legal right and options.
