Eight Injured in Los Angeles Car Accident

A Los Angeles car accident the evening of January 10, 2010 left eight people including an infant, injured. According to a news report in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the accident occurred on the 60 Freeway near Azusa Avenue, in the City of Industry and involved a car and a minivan. The minivan caught fire soon after the collision. The baby girl sustained second- and third-degree burns. Seven other passengers in the minivan also sustained minor to moderate burns. However, no one suffered life-threatening injuries, California Highway Patrol officials said. There is no word yet on what caused this injury crash.

I'm relieved that everyone in the minivan was able to get out in time. It's indeed fortunate that there were no fatal injuries in this case. I wish all the injured victims the very best for a speedy and complete recovery, especially the little girl who was seriously injured. She will be in my prayers.

Car Accidents

There were seven fatalities and 236 injuries involving car accidents in the City of Industry, according to CHP's 2007 traffic accident statistics. Countywide, 712 deaths and 56,475 injuries were reported as a result of car accidents in 2007.

There are many questions here that are still to be answered. How did the collision occur? Who caused the crash? Was one of the drivers under the influence, speeding, driving recklessly or otherwise negligent? I trust the CHP investigation will shed some light on some of these important details.

Liability Issues

When car accidents result in serious injuries, victims or their families would be well-advised to get in touch with an experienced Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, who will stay on top of the official investigation and make sure that their legal rights are protected. If there was negligence or wrongdoing on the part of the other driver, injured victims can seek compensation to cover medical expenses, loss of wages, pain and suffering, and other related damages.
